This policy covers the WrenchSync iOS app only. The app collects nothing: it has no servers, no accounts and no analytics, and everything you enter stays on your device.
This website is separate and does use analytics cookies — that is covered by the Website Privacy Policy.

Data Storage
All vehicle data, maintenance records, service history, photos, receipts, and settings are stored locally on your device using Apple's Core Data framework. We do not operate any servers. Your data never leaves your device unless you explicitly use the export feature to create a CSV or JSON file that you choose to share.
Network Usage
The App makes network requests only to government and third-party APIs:
- VIN decoding uses the NHTSA vPIC API (vpic.nhtsa.dot.gov) to look up vehicle make, model, year, trim, and engine information from a VIN you enter. Your VIN is transmitted to NHTSA over HTTPS but is not stored on any server we control.
- Recall checking uses the NHTSA Recalls API (api.nhtsa.gov) to fetch safety recalls using your vehicle's make, model, and year. No personally identifiable information is sent.
- Affiliate links open third-party websites (Amazon, RepairPal, The Zebra, TireRack, etc.) in your device's browser. No personal data is transmitted to these partners through WrenchSync.
Data We Do Not Collect
The App does NOT collect, store, or transmit:
- Your name, email, phone number, or address
- Your location or GPS data
- Your driving data or behavior
- Analytics, crash reports, or usage statistics
- Advertising identifiers or device fingerprints
- Contact list or social media information
We do not include any analytics SDKs, advertising SDKs, or third-party tracking frameworks in the App. This is a statement about the App specifically; see the Website Privacy Policy for how wrenchsync.app itself behaves.
Photos
Vehicle and receipt photos are stored locally on your device. They are never uploaded to any server. They are included only if you explicitly export your data.
Data Retention
Your data remains on your device until you delete the App or delete individual records within the App. Uninstalling WrenchSync permanently deletes all vehicle data, maintenance records, and photos from your device. We cannot recover this data for you as we do not maintain any server-side copies.
Data Export
You can export your service history as CSV or your full data as JSON from Settings. Exported files are saved to your device and can be shared using the iOS share sheet. You are responsible for the security of any exported files.
Affiliate Links
When you tap a product or service link, you are redirected to the partner's website (Amazon, RepairPal, The Zebra, TireRack, West Marine, RevZilla, Rocky Mountain ATV/MC, CARCHEX, AAA, Progressive, Good Sam) via your device's browser. No personal data is transmitted to these partners through WrenchSync. These partners have their own privacy policies that govern data collected on their websites.
Children's Privacy
WrenchSync is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect any data from children. The App does not collect personal information from any user of any age. Children's privacy is protected by design — there is simply nothing to collect.
No Tracking
The App does not include any analytics SDKs, advertising SDKs, or third-party tracking. We do not collect crash reports, usage statistics, or device identifiers. The App does not use IDFA or any other advertising identifier.
Purchases
WrenchSync is a paid app on the App Store, sold as a one-time purchase. Your purchase is processed entirely by Apple. We do not receive or store your payment information, Apple ID, or purchase history.
Security
Since all data is stored locally on your device, the security of your data depends on your device's security settings (passcode, Face ID, Touch ID). We recommend keeping your device updated and using device-level security features.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be effective when the updated policy is made available within the App. Your continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
Compliance
This privacy policy is designed to comply with applicable privacy laws including, where applicable, the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), and Apple App Store Review Guidelines. Since the App does not collect personal data, most rights under these regulations (such as access, deletion, or portability) can be exercised by managing data directly on your device.
